Southern South America; open habitats and shores;

DESCRIPTION:

20 cm; streaked with gray; noticeable red eye;

FOOD:

feed on invertebrates;

BREEDING:

clutch 2 eggs but usually only one chick raised; both parents feed chick by regurgitation; similar to Chionididae.
