There are six families within the Order Pelecaniformes. They include:

• Phaethontidae (tropicbirds)
• Fregatidae (frigatebirds)
• Sulidae (boobies, gannets)
• Phalacrocoracidae (cormorants, shags)
• Anhingidae (anhinga, darters)
• Pelecanidae (pelicans)
