Bird Families of the World

As the popularity of the World Wide Web has increased over the past few years, numerous web pages have been created that deal with some aspect of ornithology. However, finding a web page with useful information can be extremely time consuming. This "Birds of the World" website is designed to provide a starting point for amateurs and professionals interested in learning about bird families, both familiar and strange. We hope to maintain this site with a suite of volunteer “curators” from around the world who are willing to cultivate the portion of the site for a given family. The site provides information about: 1) the life history of each of the families, 2) images, sounds, and recent literature relevant to each family, and 3) the latest information on phylogenetic relationships within the family and with other families. If you are a specialist on any family of birds of the world, or if you have a collection of images or sounds that you would be willing to contribute, we would very much like to discuss the possibility of your joining us in this venture.
