Cornell University and the members of the Cornell Isotope Laboratory welcome you to the 15th Continuous Flow Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (CF-IRMS) Workshop!  This year’s workshop will take place at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY from Sunday June 28th through Wednesday July 1st 2009.   Several topics for discussion include methods utilizing continuous flow applications, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, advances in CF-IRMS techniques, and updates on software.

The 1st CF-IRMS Workshop was started in 1993 by Nik Binder of Isomass Scientific Inc. in response to the widespread application of continuous flow isotope technology in North America and throughout the world.  Since that time there has been a tremendous response by researchers, technical staff, students, and manufacturers to meet on an almost yearly basis to discuss innovative ideas and insights.  The CF-IRMS Workshop also provides a platform for manufacturers to showcase new and updated products.

In recognition of the 14 previous workshops we plan on having a special session dedicated to discussing advances in Continuous Flow technology since its inception.  To begin the workshop we will be offering an introductory course for first-time attendees and experienced users who could use a refresher.  This will be followed by two days of technical talks and poster sessions, including keynote speaker Jason West from Texas A&M University.  There will also be several independent sessions related to software, quality control and post analysis correction of data, and a specific session related to using pyrolysis techniques.  Throughout the entirety of the workshop, manufacturers will have instrumentation set up and will be available to discuss their products.  The workshop will culminate in tours of various isotope facilities located at Cornell University.  In addition, this year’s tours will also include visits to Cornell University’s renowned Laboratory of Ornithology and Paleontological Research Institute. Outside of the technical talks and poster sessions there will be a few social events that include an opening night meet-and-greet, a banquet cruise on Cayuga Lake on Monday night and a tour of various Finger Lakes Region scenic sites on Thursday afternoon.

Those intending to make a presentation at the Workshop or bring a poster need to submit an abstract prior to Friday May 15th, 2009.  Registration for the workshop is $175 USD (see registration page for details)

Cancellation Policy:  Cancellations received in writing or via e-mail prior to Friday June 5th, 2009 will be refunded all but a $25 USD administration fee.  Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after June 5th, 2009
