Ecosystem Ecology, Biogeochemistry, and Global Change

We study how carbon, water, and nutrients - especially nitrogen - cycle through forest ecosystems, and how human impacts from air pollution, climate change, and land-use change affect forest carbon storage and retention of nitrogen. Tools include field experiments, networked observations, stable isotopes, and ecosystem and global models.
