Milkweeds or Asclepias species are named after the Greek God of medicine (Asclepios, son of Apollo).  Milkweeds have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years, in particular for their effects on heartbeats.  The bioactive effects of milkweeds extend from insects to mammals.
